A community of recently-awakened, sapient droids have taken in its newest resident, Sedulous, carrying the memory core of her partner, Intrepid. After years of traversal through space, Sedulous manages to revive her partner and give them a new body, but time passes differently for one in a state of death-like sleep.

Just finished reading this, it made me cry.
I don't experience emotions on that level easily or often, never have, but these days it's rarer than ever.
